Privacy Policy

Last updated September 9, 2026

Savarin ("Savarin", "we", "us") runs the website at savarin.ai. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we will never do with it. It applies to everyone who uses the site.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with data brokers, advertisers, or any third party for their own marketing purposes — ever, for any amount of money. We do not run behavioral ad networks on Savarin and we do not build advertising profiles about you. If that ever changed, we would ask for your explicit opt-in consent first; it would never happen quietly.

What we collect

  • Account details. Your email address and authentication details when you create an account.
  • What you ask us. Your searches, questions, city, saved items and feedback (thumbs up/down), so the product works and so we can improve answers.
  • Support messages. The name, email and message you send us through the support form.
  • Billing information. If you subscribe, payments are processed by Stripe. Stripe handles your card details directly — we never see or store your full card number.
  • Basic technical data. Standard log and device information (such as IP address, browser type and timestamps) needed to run, secure and debug the service.

Photos you upload

If you upload a photo of a dish, it is sent to our AI provider only to identify the dish and return a recipe. We do not publish your photos, use them for advertising, or sell them.

Location

Savarin needs a city to answer "near me" questions. We use the city you type or that you mention in conversation, and a rough location inferred from your IP address. We do not collect precise GPS location, and we do not track your movements. Your last city is stored so you do not have to type it again; you can change or clear it at any time by telling Savarin a different city or deleting your account.

Cookies and device storage

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we do not run third-party ad networks or cross-site trackers. Savarin stores a small amount of data in your browser (local storage) to keep you signed in and to remember your recent chats, city and preferences on that device. Signing in with Google involves cookies set by Google as part of their sign-in process, which are governed by Google's own privacy policy. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings.

AI providers and model training

Your questions, photos and related context are sent to our AI providers solely to generate your answer. We do not sell your content, and we do not permit it to be used to train third-party general-purpose AI models. We may review anonymized or aggregated examples internally to improve answer quality.

How we use it

  • To provide restaurant, recipe and cooking answers you asked for.
  • To keep your account, saved items and history working across devices.
  • To process subscriptions and send transactional email (receipts, password resets, support replies).
  • To measure quality in aggregate and improve our answers.
  • To detect abuse, fraud and security problems, and to comply with the law.

Who we share it with

Only the service providers we need to operate, and only for that purpose: our hosting and database provider, our AI model provider, Stripe for payments, our email delivery provider, and mapping/venue data providers such as Google Maps. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own marketing. We may also disclose information if required by law, or in connection with a merger or acquisition — in which case this policy continues to apply to the transferred data.

External links

Savarin links out to restaurant websites, reservation platforms, social profiles, videos and retailers. Once you click through, that site's own privacy policy applies. We are not responsible for how third-party sites handle your information.

Retention and security

We keep personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed for legal, tax and security purposes, then delete or anonymize it. We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls) to protect it. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your choices

  • Access or correct your account data — email us and we will action it.
  • Delete your account yourself at any time: sign in, open the Privacy & Terms tab, and choose “Delete my account”. This permanently removes your account, saved items, history, feedback and usage records, and cancels any active subscription.
  • Opt out of non-essential email at any time.
  • Depending on where you live (for example California or the EU/UK), you may have additional rights, including the right to know, delete, and to not be discriminated against for exercising them. Since we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is nothing to opt out of.

Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended gives you specific rights. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information:

  • Identifiers — email address, account ID, IP address. Collected from you and from your device, to run your account and secure the service.
  • Commercial information — subscription status and payment records held via Stripe, to process and support your subscription.
  • Internet and device activity — searches, questions, saved items, feedback and standard log data, to provide answers and improve quality.
  • Geolocation (coarse) — the city you provide or an approximate area from your IP, to answer location-based questions.
  • Audio/visual information — photos you choose to upload, to identify a dish or read a recipe or receipt.
  • Inferences — food preferences Savarin remembers from your conversations, to personalize answers.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done so in the past 12 months. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. We do not use sensitive personal information for purposes requiring a right to limit.

You have the right to:

  • Know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, and request a copy of it.
  • Correct inaccurate personal information we hold about you.
  • Delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
  • Opt out of sale or sharing — not applicable, because we do neither.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. Our pricing and service do not change based on whether you exercise them.

To exercise a right, delete your account in the app or email support@savarin.ai. We will verify your request through the email address on your account and respond within 45 days, extending once if needed. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission from you. Under California's "Shine the Light" law, you may also request information about disclosures to third parties for their direct marketing purposes — we make none.

Children

Savarin is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above, and continued use of Savarin after an update means you accept the revised policy.
